In Pakistan, structured support systems for persons with disabilities remain limited, especially for those with severe conditions. Many individuals struggle to afford assistive devices, which are often expensive yet essential for daily living and independence.

Existing social support processes rarely meet actual needs. Obtaining a disability certificate can take years, and even then, access to suitable assistive devices is uncertain. Delays and mismatched support often worsen conditions, making daily life more challenging for individuals already facing significant barriers.

Another concern is the absence of long-term care options for individuals with severe disabilities, particularly when family members or caregivers are no longer present. Many are left without reliable assistance, increasing their vulnerability and dependence on limited resources.

The Karachi Disability Network works to strengthen local (KDN), enabling them to respond effectively to the needs of their communities. By supporting grassroots initiatives, especially those addressing poverty, the aim is to ensure persons with disabilities receive timely, relevant, and practical support.
